The best AI agencies in Switzerland in 2026.

Alpgency · 10 September 2026

The Swiss AI services market splits cleanly: two engineering heavyweights from 1968, a band of specialist mid-size firms, and a new generation of sovereignty-first boutiques. We picked nine firms we actually consider competition or complements, using their own published clients and case studies. Full disclosure: Alpgency is on the list, clearly marked, because we compete in this market. Where a number is self-reported, we say so.

1. Zühlke Schlieren (Zurich)

Zühlke. Founded 1968, partner-owned, around 1,900 people across 17 locations. Explicitly attacks the "pilots that never reach production" problem, strong in regulated industries; publishes clients like Julius Baer, Swisscom and the NHS. Best for large regulated organizations.

2. ELCA Lausanne

ELCA. One of the largest independent Swiss IT firms, founded 1968, over 2,200 experts, and recently launched an Agentic Engineering Unit. Best for enterprise and public-sector Switzerland, especially the French-speaking part.

3. Unit8 Lausanne and Zurich

Unit8. Founded 2017 by ex-Palantir engineers, around 180 data experts, specializations in Palantir Foundry and OpenAI implementations, and authors of the open-source Darts forecasting library. Publishes clients like Merck and Swiss Re. Best for pharma, insurance and industry with serious data estates.

4. ti&m Zurich

ti&m. Founder-owned since 2005, several hundred employees, and built the Swiss COVID certificate. Ships AI agents and assistants with an emphasis on open source and digital sovereignty. Best for banks, insurers and government bodies that want Swiss-built AI.

5. Visium Lausanne

Visium. Started at EPFL Innovation Park in 2018, offices in Lausanne, Zurich and Barcelona. Enterprise AI and data platforms, currently pushing agentic AI for life sciences. Publishes clients like Tetra Pak and Mettler Toledo. Best for regulated enterprises, especially life sciences.

6. D ONE Zurich

D ONE. Around since 2005, roughly a hundred specialists focused on industrializing data and AI, with explicit attention to the organizational side: adoption, not just models. Best for firms whose AI problem is really a data-foundation and adoption problem.

7. Alpgency Madrid and Zürich

Alpgency. That is us, so judge the claim by the numbers, not the adjectives. European AI & software agency: AI agents, automation and custom software, at a fixed price agreed up front, first use case live in 2 to 4 weeks, in English, Spanish and German. Our reference: deal-flow scoring live 9 days after kickoff for a Belgian pre-seed VC. Best for companies and funds that want one use case in production fast, not a six-month program.

8. AlpineAI (SwissGPT) Zurich and Davos

AlpineAI (SwissGPT). Founded 2023, the company behind SwissGPT: AI on Swiss servers under Swiss law, with sector products for healthcare, public administration and universities. Publishes clients like the City of Lucerne, ZHAW and Threema. Best for data-sovereignty-sensitive organizations.

9. Artificialy Lugano and Zurich

Artificialy. Founded 2020 by two IDSIA professors, with UBS as shareholder and client per the company. Research-grade custom AI, consulting and training. Best for companies that want academic-pedigree custom AI, and for the Italian-speaking market.

How to choose between them

The honest heuristic: for a regulated enterprise taking AI from pilot to production at scale, Zühlke or ELCA. For serious data estates in pharma or insurance, Unit8. If nothing may leave Swiss soil, AlpineAI or ti&m. If you are an SME or a fund and want a first use case in production within a month at a fixed price, in German, English or Spanish, that is the gap we built Alpgency for. Whoever you shortlist, run the five questions from our guide on choosing an AI implementation partner.

Directories worth cross-checking: Clutch Switzerland and TechBehemoths Switzerland. Both mix in firms that merely serve Switzerland from abroad, so read the profiles, not just the rankings. Agency facts above come from each company’s own site or press coverage.
